ALF Porgs! Remember ALF? Well, he's back...in Porg form.

And when did Snoke become Liberace? That gold speckled jumpsuit and inflated head was jarring when he first came on screen. Then it made sense when I realized he was just a Trump allegory. I'm pretty sure when Trump dismantles congress and declares himself emperor that is what he will be wearing.

Let's reiterate that Temple of Doom was the second-best Indiana Jones movie.

Saw it a second time tonight with my brother, expecting to be bogged down by the last week's worth of nitpicky bullshit, and you know what?

I still think it's pretty great.

Saw it again and liked it even more the second time around, even if I did hate the prequels-level of crazy antics and slapstick insanity. This is a Star Wars movie that feels fresh and adventurous. Digging on it.

I loved it and agree with Shoe for the most part. It was wonderful and made me feel like a kid again.

Five years from now, after this new trilogy of films is complete and the current miasma of fanboy grousing has dissipated, The Last Jedi will be a lot more appreciated. It's just baffling to me how a Star Wars movie with a 90+% Rotten Tomatoes score from critics could be THIS disliked by the very people who should have flipped for it. :noclue:

Even weirder because The Force Awakens was initially greeted with "They got it RIGHT this time...!" orgasms of joy, but within a period of weeks, was suddenly pilloried by those very same fans for being too close to the overall plot structure of A New Hope. What the hell do you WANT, people?!

Nerds, as a whole, have terrible opinions. Many, I suspect, don't appreciate film either.

Chris, have you seen A New Hope revisisted? Trying to decide if I want to use the bandwidth and storage space to download it.

When I look at the changelogs, it's both an impressive list of digital "fixes" while also being a load of nitpicky bullshit that never bothered me (if I even noticed this stuff in the first place, which most of the time I did not).

https://swrevisited.wordpress.com/anhr-change-list/

I'm all for removing the Jabba scene and the Greedo change, and a lot of the stuff sounds neat, but I'm not sure how essential this is. I have a rip of the old laserdisc edition and I'm mostly fine with this Special Edition.

I'm not a fan of any of these re-edits. You have the two definitive versions of the films, so why bother with anything else?

We have to do everything in our power to fix Star Wars after history's greatest monster, George Lucas, destroyed all hope of ever enjoying it again.

Or rather, because they can be fun, and if the perfect marriage between Special Edition and original exists, that would be pretty keen.

eh, Star Wars is fun, simply because it isn't perfect. A storm trooper actor accidentally bonks his head on the door, and it spawns an entire backstory. Imagine if the internet had existed in 1977, and some neckbeard proposed fixing that?

Get the 35mm rips! They cleaned up Star Wars (not a New Hope, it's just Star Wars) and left ESB and ROTJ as is with knicks/dust/etc. It's kind of fun projected - leaves you feeling like you're watching an original print instead of a video.

Eh. A lot of the special edition changes are really nice and i'm glad they were nade. Cloud City is miles better in the SE, for instance. Same with getting that brief Biggs scene in and the improved effects. Not all of them are good, but there is a lot to like.

I'm all for a nice pristine version of what initially hit theaters, simply because it's an important landmark in cinema, but I'm not talking about preservation here, I'm talking about something to watch.

And ideally, that's a marriage between the original and the special editions. If I want to watch the vanilla version, I can already do that.

I think I finally settled on some prequel fan edits. Downloaded them today in 720p versions. Most of the changes sound good, except for Revenge of the Sith, which the editor messed with too much. That's already a pretty great Star Wars movie.

I'm still on a major Star Wars kick, though it's finally starting to wane, so I may or may not watch them soon.

I did my own quickie fan edits of a bunch of Clone Wars and Rebels, so if/when I ever decide to marathon all Star Wars I'll probably re-watch them that way. Have 7 "movies" for each series.

I want to do a fan edit that focuses on C3PO wanting to be human. Poor 3PO wants to have a human heart.

Yeah, those are all insanely good.

Baby time. https://youtu.be/itkl7cHcX_E?t=1046

Those are my favorite cuts of the prequels.
