I must say, this one looks better than the last one.

Likely the only movie this year that will top Drive Angry.

Watching an infant strangling to death would be more entertaining than the last one.

Transformers 2 was a bizarre, fever-dream of a masterpiece. And I say without a shred of irony that Michael Bay is an utter showman and quite possibly the only sincere filmmaker left on the planet.

I mean, I'll see the shit out of The Tree of Life as Malick tries desperately to film his own personal interpretations of what it is to be alive, but guess what? Every other artist on the face of the fucking earth is attempting to do the exact same thing with varying degrees of success. That shit is just as played-out in the fagaggoty arthouse circuit as your average multiplex romcom.

Michael Bay cares not for such bullshit.

He's managed to take a franchise that was cynically made only to bareback top the nostalgia of 30-year-olds with disposable income who want nothing more to relive their own childhoods (due to the fact that they've all finally come to the understanding that they're going to die and it's going to happen fairly soon), and made it into something entirely different.

...and very, very shitty.

The first one was so-so. After the second one, I really don't have any interest in this.

Considering how SPECTACULARLY racist the second Transformers movie was, I'm amazed you, of all people, would ever consider watching anything directed by Bay ever again.

What, you'd rather it be New York or L.A. getting decimnitated for the five-billionth time on film?

Edward D. Wood, Jr. was a "sincere" filmmaker too, if you get my drift.

Truck balls in the real world are bad enough.

Truck balls in escapist entertainment are worse.

And I'd forgotten about them. The flick is worse than I remembered.

Holy God, it's going to take me more than anything not to waste grocery money on the Blu-Ray next week, since Best Buy's putting it on sale for $14.99.

Somebody gift me that shit.

Actually I haven't seen the second one yet, although, funnily enough, I do have a DVD of it here that I was planning to rip. A co-worker lent his copy to me. Um, yeah, he's Black, too.

But even Bay admitted the second one was crap, which I give him credit for, and the third doesn't appear to suffer the same malaise, so...we'll see. Bad Boys 2 is still my favorite Bay film ever. So Bay might be able to redeem himself.

Yeah...TWO YEARS after the fact, long after all the checks had been cashed and box office had been tallied. How very Katherine Heigl. At least Bill Cosby had the guts to slam Leonard Part Six before it was even playing in theaters (granted, the man is richer than God, but the studio releasing the film must have been pretty livid that their hugely popular star was using his various talk show appearances not to plug their investment, but to tell audiences to stay away).

That is ANOTHER spectacularly racist Bay movie. In fact, every Bay movie turns its various minority characters into ghoulish, shrill caricatures. But hey, why care about that, when you can just look at all of the pretty explosions and orange-tinted skies, right?

God, even on an "ironic" level, I can't imagine anyone enjoying a Bay movie. Even watching this shit with Rifftrax is tedious. And why is every Bay movie TWO-AND-A-HALF FUCKING HOURS LONG?!

I enjoyed The Island, The Rock, and Armageddon.

Had no strong opinion about Transformers, Bad Boys and its sequel.

Never saw Pearl Harbor.

Transformers 2 sucked.

I love the first Bad Boys, and The Island. Armageddon is a horrible movie, but has some incredible cinematography (and it was pre-teal & orange era). Everything else he's directed is blah. Not good or bad. Just blah.

Most stars and directors have clauses in their contracts that expressly prohibit them from publicly criticizing their movie while it's in theatres or just hitting video. If he had any misgivings about the movie, two years is probably as early as he could publicly air them without opening himself up to massive civil liability.

Horrible, maybe. But I still sort of enjoy it. The over-the-top bullshit heroics. The ridiculous establishment of Bruce Willis's character at the beginning. The "assembling the team" montage that's just stupidly exaggerated. It's very much the movie a 12-year-old boy would make, if he were actually competent to make a movie, except for the lack of breasts.

I didn't see it that way, but the film is definitely a big dumb summer comic book type of action movie. Deliberately over the top, not meant to be taken seriously. So for what it is, it's fun.

I must admit, though, I'm curious as to just what you found was so particularly racist about Bad Boys 2.

I'm with you on this one. I won't go out of my way to rent it or even see it on TV, but I enjoyed it for what it was. If I'm flipping channels and run across it, I watch some of it before changing again. Your 12-year-old boy comment nails it exactly.

Yep. There isn't a real person anywhere in that movie. There are just a bunch of caricatures that a 12-year-old would conceive of.

And they're fun to watch.

Deducted half a star because Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is cute, but she's no Megan Fox.

If you didn't like the first two, don't waste your time or money; part 3 isn't going to win you over. If you do plan on seeing it, see it on an IMAX screen if you're able. The spectacle justifies the additional cost. The 3D was the best since Avatar, and perhaps equally as good (except for one or two scenes that were very obviously post-converted).

As of right now, Transformers 3 is 2% higher than Cars 2 on Rotten Tomatoes.

Yup.

THAT. JUST. HAPPENED.
