Flashy, fun, if somewhat hollow. Pretty much the best possible adaptation/condensing of the book. The sequence where the characters enter [MOVIE REDACTED] is flat-out amazing.

Whoa, whoa, does the movie make reference to some kind of pop culture thing we all know and love? Because if it does, that would be AWESOME!

Don't spoil this for me. I've been waiting for a solid courtroom drama for the last few years and can't wait to see this film.

I read this out loud to a friend today and it left him in the fetal position.

Man, that line about going through Devo's discography taking longer than They Might be Giants (which took him less than two weeks) bugs the shit out of me - TMBG's got 20+ albums and Devo's got NINE.

Personally, I think if you're going to make a book based on 80s pop culture egg hunting, I would rather someone did some research instead of just writing it based on a brief Google search and memory.

Also I'm annoyed Pink Floyd is in a sentence about silly lyrics among Van Halen, Def Leppard, and Bon Jovi. What?

Ah, you're right. I've blocked any Floyd post-The Final Cut from memory.

I've never been a Pink Floyd fan - too much rock, not enough prog.

That's fine, I still think when clustered with Van Halen/Bon Jovi/whomever, there's a "One of these things is not like the other" situation.

Disparaging the Atari 7800 is fucking bullshit and you know it.

It's a very weird thing, that sometime in the late 70s, Europe and the US completely diverged on technology adoption. The Atari 2600 did ok in Holland, but I don't even remember the 7800. However, around the same time Commodore put out the C64, Atari launched home PCs in Europe, and they were very popular. This was during an era where you could buy PCs in grocery stores. Nobody had consoles, they just weren't a thing.

As much as I liked the movie, the line, "You killed my mother's SISTER!" is unbelievably awful and awkward.

The 7800 was rare in the US. I don't remember it, and I don't think anyone I knew had it. 2600 was the one everyone remembers.

Also, I had an Atari PC with a cassette tape drive, though I don't recall the exact model and I can't remember if it was purchased in a grocery story. It was eventually replaced by an Apple IIc.

Nah, I'm talking about the ST series, which the Commodore Amiga series was also based on (and used floppy disks and flash-RAM disks). These cheap PCs were better and faster than anything Apple and DOS PC manufacturers were putting out the in the mid-late 80s.

Atari 7800 was kind of bullshit. It was warehoused for years because of the videogame crash.

Atari 8-bit computers (400, 800, 1200xl) were my jam. I have an Atari ST in my closet, but haven't done much with it.

The 7800 did not make the cut when I last moved.

I like the idea of an Atari that could play 2600 games but also stuff more comparable to the NES. I just never actually saw one in the wild.

Intellivision's Frog and Flies was superior.

NES' Popeye was the best (after the arcade, of course)

I sold all my Atari 2600 and 7800 games when I moved. Well over 150 carts. No regrets.

You need more proper 7800 games. Back in 2000 or so, I found a website selling a bunch of 2600 and 7800 games brand new in the box. He bought them as a warehouse find, and stored them all in a network of caves. They were like $1 each or something ridiculous - teenage me was ecstatic to receive 30 shrinkwrapped Atari games.

I was a strange teen.

PS - it's rolling your score. It's based off mechanical pinball/arcade games, when you maxed out the score reels and they restart at 0.

Most of the games were the same arcade ports people had been playing for years. The graphics were better than the 2600, but it used the same sound chip as the 2600 so it was full of computer fart sounds. I don't think there were any must-have games on the system. Ballblazer is unique in that it's not a Pac-man remake or something, but you could play it on the Commodore 64 or other PCs.

Colecovision+Atari 2600 adapter is where it's at.

Flipping is a perfectly acceptable term that was widely used in the '80s, at least in this region. Urban Dictionary and shitty indie movies no one ever saw confirm this.

You ought to be thrown in prison for the lies and slander you've been posting, or at the very least have one of your feet sawed off.
