'Twin Peaks' Returning to TV in 2016
Posted Tue Oct 7, 2014 at 08:48 AM PDT by Tom Landy

Two months after the release of the Twin Peaks Blu-ray set, the mystery continues... David Lynch will be directing nine more episodes of his fan-favorite series for Showtime.

The series will once again be created by Lynch and Mark Frost and will be set 25 years later. Kyle MacLachlan is also reported to be on board to return as FBI Agent Dale Cooper.

The groundbreaking television phenomenon, Golden Globe and Peabody Award-winner Twin Peaks will return as a new limited series on Showtime in 2016. Series creators and executive producers David Lynch and Mark Frost will write and produce all nine episodes of the limited series, and Lynch will direct every episode. Set in the present day, Twin Peaks will continue the lore of the original series, providing long-awaited answers and a satisfying conclusion for the series' passionate fan base.

I haven't been on facebook for a while, so missed this news and just saw it today.

When directors come back to a project after this long it usually doesn't end well. I'm keeping reserved about any hopes for this.

Crossing fingers for a new season of On The Air.

(which, like Twin Peaks, started very strong, and ended up a train wreck).

So, this is dead in the water. Showtime pulled the plug.

Well, it looks like Showtime may not have killed it completely - but Lynch is no longer part of the equation.

Lynch and Frost wrote all 9 episodes, but Lynch is off of directing since Showtime didn't want to give him the budget that fits the script. Boo. My friends and I are marathoning Twin Peaks right now and found out in the middle of the second season opener and we're all furious.

Mainly because the Nadine storyline was garbage from the get-go.

Well, 4 episodes in and it's clear Lynch is bonkers (and his love for wrinkly faces doesn't let up), but I'm having a blast watching this. I could have done without the flashlight in my face for two minutes, and that entire Michael Cera scene. Otherwise, great stuff.

Nah, the scene was hilarious, I just wanted it to be a different actor being that goofy.

Also, Cooper getting his first taste of coffee in 25 years - best shot ever.
