Great video that sums up the series and the season finale (Felina): http://vimeo.com/76287333

I love me some since my young days Marty Robbins.

And Breaking Bad.

Most excellent.

Yes, yes, you should. Then buy and read Shoe's book on it.

I get it. The joke though is that Toys R' Us probably survives off of the older nerds buying collectible toys. And why is it offensive that the toy exists to the parent, when their child won't know what it's about just seeing it on the shelves anyways?

'cause, drugs I guess.

The first thing I thought when I read that was, "Don't they have a whole ilse of violent figurines there?"

Ten minutes into Better Call Saul and a severed head's getting raped.

Or a post-decapitation neck.

It's kind of ambiguous in that regard.

Show seems well done. I like how the prologue drives home how much of a cancer Walt really was on everyone. Even Saul, king of the world, has been dethroned and now sells Cinnabons at the local shopping mall.

What I don't like - C'mon, Tucco? See, here in lies the problem with a prequel that brings in fan favorites and shit like that - we know Tucco will live to see another day. We know Saul lives. Just... it's pandering. Breaking Bad never felt like it was pandering. It just seems pretty damn shoehorned in to what already felt like an engaging pilot about some poor schmuck driving a shitty car and working as a public defender.

I guess they need to establish how Jimmy becomes the "criminal lawyer" we know and love early on.

Of course he's going to intersect with some of those old characters. That's the criminal underworld with whom he was running when Walt crossed paths with him. This show is essentially how Saul broke bad.

Tucco will perhaps be a gimmick, but I'd say Gilligan has earned trust enough for us to roll with it.

I should point out that I posted this before the line about fucking a head, so, mystery solved, I guess.

Yeah, fine, good. But in the first episode? C'mon!

I actually am re-watching season 5 of Breaking Bad right now, on the last episode and everything.

I think my favorite detail about this last episode is that Walter makes Badger and Skinny Pete give him back the laser pointers because the dude knows they'd do nothing but fuck around and point the lasers in each other's eyes and shit.

Better Call Saul continues to be strong, though with just a few episodes left, I can't tell if this season is actually going anywhere.

I like the show. I'm enjoying watching Saul turn into a schemer and wonder how he'll finally break bad (though I REALLY wish there was more Mike in it).

Still, it's hard to pinpoint any story or arc that defines the first season. What's it about? What's the big event? What's the A to B journey?

First we had the Tuco story. Dropped. Then the embezzlement story. Dropped. Now the nursing home. But nothing really ties these things together.

Not a big complaint, as I've enjoyed every episode so far, I just wonder if it's going to find something to focus on.

But then, it took Breaking Bad a while to find its focus, too.

I'm four episodes behind on Better Call Saul. I'm going to let them pile up until the end of the season and then binge watch them one day.

Considering that he's still called Jimmy McGill, and not Saul Goodman, which I'm betting happens in the season finale (I haven't seen the last episode yet, so it could have already happened, though I doubt it), they seem to be taking their time with things.

I made a terrible mistake.

A week or two ago, I innocently popped in a season 1 blu-ray to listen to one of the commentary tracks, just something to pass an hour by one night, since I'm a bit burned out on video games right now and needed a break from writing. I opted for the pilot episode, because why not?

You really can't do that with Breaking Bad, because, well, that just started the whole damn thing rolling again. I just wrapped up season 4 and am blasting towards the end.

This show, man. This show.

Watched "Crawl Space" last night.

That scene still sends chills up my spine. One of the great moments in television history. Though I've seen it many times already, I was still utterly riveted by it.

The last three episodes of season 4 combine for just amazing TV. Stunning stuff.

I did not intend to re-watch the show, but I'm just totally locked in again. I almost want to turn the commentaries off!

I keep the subtitles on when I listen to commentaries. I found that every now and then, I get lost in reading the dialogue and miss what they are saying on the commentary, so I have to rewind and watch the scene again.

This damn show.

Reread the first page of this thread. Back when Shoe was seasons behind and hadn't even watched any Mad Men either. Simpler times.

That's insane to think about. And at this point I think this is my fifth or sixth viewing.
