This "revival" was pretty disappointing, all around...aside from the splendid Darin Morgan ep, this had none of the carefully-cultivated atmosphere of the original series (even the post-season five L.A. episodes), crammed WAY too much shit into the same episode (Mulder & Scully hunt down a garbage monster -- which they already did in a season-six episode -- in the same ep as Scully's mother dying, that HORRIBLE one about heavenly horns, Muslim suicide bombers, and Mulder tripping out on placebo 'shrooms), and, oh yeah, ends on ANOTHER FUCKING CLIFFHANGER instead of resolving anything that long-time X-Philes have been demanding for fifteen years. Plus, they kept Mulder & Scully apart in most of the episodes, added lame modern-day substitutes (did they learn nothing from the failed Doggett and Reyes era?), and overall failed to add anything worthwhile to the overall Mythology except "Oh yeah, aliens are still totally coming to invade...at some point". Kind of like the last Indiana Jones movie, any pleasure you get from seeing these actors in these roles again (and still looking great for their ages) is nullified by the slapdash plotting and indifferent production values of these new episodes. Even if they bring the show back for another season or a big screen movie, I think I have had my fill...I'm just going to finish off the Mulder Years with season seven on Blu-Ray and accept that the magic is gone, and we'll never get a satisfying resolution to the series.

Well, that was a doody of a season premiere. Pulling out the "It was all a dream" card, Carter...? :flip:

And why is it that Gillian Anderson still looks great, yet Duchovny's starting to look like he did in the season 2 episode "Dod Kalm"...?

Well okay, the last two episodes actually felt like proper, old-school X-Files.

I've only seen one episode of the revival, and it was an episode that could have featured any two characters. It only bore the X-Files name.

But I LOVED it.

I'm talking about the one with the robotic sushi place.

What a fantastic dose of creepy, fun sci-fi techno horror. Great stuff. Certainly riffing on the Black Mirror thing, but a good bit better than many BM episodes, to be honest.
