Last week's Robin Reliant segment was stupid funny, but this week seemed a bit...meh, and that's because the main segment was heavily edited (for time - I think the guest rambled a bit).
The best part about the current series, is all the behind-the-scenes videos on topgear.com, including a brilliant multi-part video called "James drives to the studio."

Richards' "What..."-reaction at 46:56 was priceless.

I only recently started watching Top Gear. First via Netflix and then through some nice bloke who uploads the new shows in HD on Usenet. Holy Fuck this show is great! I can't believe I have stayed away for this long.

Be aware, the Netflix releases are heavily edited (and are also missing the original music) -as they are taken from the BBC America airings. Check out finalgear.com for everything TG-related, including torrent links to every single episode.

James' original Veyron max-out is my single favourite segment ("This is Germany. There are procedures. I LIKE procedures..."), I'm expecting all-over-the-place-sploogage, when I'm back home later, indeed.

The original Veyron film from a couple of years ago is a masterpiece...tonight's version was pretty awful (too similar, horrible music, crap editing, bad ending). Honestly, my favourite part was seeing those two wheels lift up in the air. Other than that, the episode, like most of the shows this series, was forgettable. They'd better redeem themselves with a trip to some country I've never been to.

I wouldn't go that far, but it sure was no masterpiece. And that Super Sport version looks like shit, not to mention that version's truly awful paint scheme.

And what's up with the über-hyperbole with everything (Diaz, Senna)? Top Gear, especially Clarkson, is all about hyperbole. But, man, can't we conclude into ANY awe on our own now?

Clarkson's 'this is the end of the automobile as we know it' Veyron piece was the ultimate.

LOVED the final episode. Felt like old TG. I even liked Jeff Goldblum's appearance (weird hair thing going on).

It's called Sputnik! Is Clarkson really that awesome, or did he watch the entire Goldblum back catalouge prior to the interview? Which of course would be just as awesome.

Anyway, more, like, THIRD GEAR. Heh. His hair almost looked like his shaggy, just-off-the-stage-playing-The-Elephant-Man hair from The Tall Guy. Lex would've had his fun. As weird as his hair was, though, nothing comes close to his trademark finger action...

What was up with über-shitting the 430? I remember Clarkson hailing it as the best Ferrari ever, way back when.

Which version? Didn't they try 3 different pilots with different casts before finally putting out what limped out a few days ago?

It premiered last night. The first film was "inspired" by an early British episode. Except, in that one, the action lasted 6 or 7 minutes. In the US version, it lasted 25. And the cinematography (one of the biggest draws to the British version) was horribly lame. Add to this, three very bland hosts, the over-explanation of everything (including The Stig), and it made for a boring debut. I didn't think it could get worse than Top Gear Australia.

I avoided it because the promos looked so bad. Without Clarkson it isn't really Top Gear.

I couldn't watch more than 10 minutes of the 2nd episode. It's so dull. And I can watch 8 hours of this

, so that's saying something:

The American version of this show is shit. Not even one of my most favorite cars (the Dodge Viper) and one of my most favorite combat vehicles (the Cobra attack helicopter) going toe-to-toe could save this fuck in the face of a show.

What a fucking disappointment.

How can you make a supreme muscle car and marvel of death seem so lame?

Attach a group of lame hosts, camera men, producers, directors and editors.

On top of that - it was my brother's first time watching the show (I guess 60 Minutes did a bit on it) and he was rightfully - thoroughly - disappointed. Likely never to watch the British one since this one was like trying to choke down a stream of dog shit shot from a hose.

By the time they "died," I had died a little inside as well.

The 60 Minutes segment was very funny, but that's because they interviewed Clarkson and co., and showed clips of the UK show.

BBC is airing not one, but two Top Gear Christmas specials. Here's a sneak peek:

The first airs 12/21, and the second on 12/26.

You know, looking at the route they took, Clarkson & co. drove within 10 miles of my house on the way to NYC.

They probably had to hire an American camera crew.

Tonight's Pagani Zonda R film was fantastic...great episode (16x04) wrapped around it, too.

Great episode all around. Much better than the America II road trip.
