Every episode of TG should be this long...

BTW, Ried (and others?), this season of Top Gear USA is far better than previous ones (starting with the Alaska special). They tossed the UK format, and every episode is now a goofy challenge, and then a car review by Tanner. The scripting and chemistry is still pretty shit (compared to TG UK), but these guys grow on you after a season or two.

Titling something that only happens for about 5 seconds and you have to wade through over 4 minutes of shit to get to?

Not right.

I watched it, and was very much entertained, but whomever titled that video should be shot.

I would have had a better time if I had not been expecting him to come back with an impression every time he paused.

I would have had a far better time if the video was titled James May Explains How To Speak In Bar Code.

Had nothing to do with James May - had everything to do with whomever titled the video.

Clear?

I did not heresy against your god.

No other show generates this much excitement in 10 seconds:

Sahara-league dryness. Luv it.

By the way, have you seen Guy Martin's Channel 4 show? The first episode is worth it, just to hear him (endlessly) say the word "pushbike", alone. Or to hear him speak comprehensible English for the first time at all.

I didn't get to watch the new episode until midnight last night...anyway, I woke my wife up laughing. The episode is so ridiculously stupid, I just didn't want it to end.

The look of genuine confusion on May's face is priceless:

Wow, tonight's episode (21e02) is easily one of the best (non-special) episodes ever produced.

Don't ruin it by watching the re-edited version on BBC America next week.

Television perfection.

And as dessert, the P1 episode from Leno's surprisingly well produced show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddU4tcGIF6k

With Hammond doing the Porsche, I guess, May will get the bella end of it all, LaFerrari. Hopefully this season too.

That ending could have been a lot better with more footage. Pussy BBC camera operators.

If you missed the worldwide-minus-France-and-the-US simulcast, check out the series 22 premiere on BBC America tonight. Or torrent the bastard. 10 episodes this time around (usually it's 6 or 7).

HUGE chunks of it in 2.35 too.

Everything about this one was spectacular in a low-key sort of way. But best was the comedy. Low on lowbrow-silly, high on highbrow-silly. Your first .gif being a perfect example. A more desperate episode would've milked further on with exposing May's English-Stig cheat-run. But they had the good sense to say fuck it and left it as is.

"Umm, that... was a racing-line there, did you see?!"

"Yeah."

This was a very 'have-to-push-my-nogging-into-view heavy episode. I don't know which blond you mean, but there was one who had THE cutest smile.

Oh, and I like it when canned-laughter is in action and you can clearly see that nobody in the background is laughing.

Been binge watching this lately. Love that Brian Johnson got 2nd place.

Also love the absolutely undeniable fact that Jeremy Clarkson's insults of Americans are now mostly about himself. He's fat, loud, and loves all things that go boom.

The Brits need something else to worry about. A guy on a popular TV show gets suspended for fighting with the producer? Is that really it?

From what I've read, it seems like he went through a hellish day, probably due to bad planning on the part of the show's producers, or whatever. Then a final straw broke his back and he went off on a producer in a public place. Mostly much a do about nothing, but since it has become such 'a thing', some action will happen. The people at the BBC may have been waiting for some good reason to spank their uppity cash cow and this is it.

Pretty much. Now imagine if an ESPN sports commentator got into a fight off-screen, and any and all TV networks canceled the airing of the Superbowl because of it. Top Gear is the most-watched TV show on the planet, and generates close to $100 million/year for the BBC.

So they are shitty capitalists. Why kill the $100 million goose over a fight? Your ESPN scenario is impossible because the USA cares more about the mighty buck than some bad press. It may be a comparable example, but that would NEVER happen here, even if there was a fucking shooting!

Hell, ESPN would put that commentator on just to boost the curiosity viewings from people who don't give two shits about the Super Bowl.

Still, I get CK's point. Ultimately, it sounds like Clarkson is kind of over doing more Top Gear. Maybe this is a convenient way out.
