The virus/contagen kills the people, then resuscitates the brainstem. However, after a certain point, whatever the illness is, every person is a carrier that's infected. You die from something unrelated? You'll now re-animate. I don't think the first wave of zombies were people that were killed from ordinary causes.

So, basically, you typed a lot of stuff that I did not read because I think you were wrong to begin with. Good effort though.

Slow-moving zombies won't ever win.

If you want to kill yourself and play like a faggot quitter, do it.

Me, I will destroy every last one of them.

You're the zero, I'm the hero.

This is a badly written show based off a well written comic.

While I really really really like the Walking Dead -- it's the only comic series I still follow -- Kirkman's dialogue is often terrible. Stilted, awkward and horribly forced. His situations are often blatantly manufactured rather than unfolding naturally, too. That he manages to create such a damn good book in spite of this flaw is quite remarkable. I think it's an excellent series in spite of some fairly major flaws in the writing.

I can see that. While I don't hold comics to a particularly high standard when it comes to solid writing (with notable exceptions) I do continue to think that the original was scripted better than the show. Darabont's version has a lot of room for improvement. The whole thing seems overly forced and labored. At least the comic had/has a naturalistic flow to it.

Granted, you have guns. I have the Zombie Survival Guide and a fortress/supplies that I shall not reveal until the time is right. Would you like to join my team?

Kill the brain.

Also, with only 28,000 zombies starting out (if they are all animated magically at one time) or far less than this (if it is a viral spread from one single source), the likelihood that I would ever even see a zombie is about as likely as Monty getting laid, or Surf dissing Apple.

If you do happen to turn into a zombie, you are welcome to cruise over here and I will gladly put you down with my machete. It would be fun.

Zombies are not real. Robots are. When you're all being slaughtered by robots because you were prepared for some fantasy zombie attack that can and will never happen, I'll be laughing my ass off.

Jesus Christ, I can sing the entire Great Space Coaster theme song and haven't heard it in probably 20 years. No wonder Seth McFarland is a millionaire. The rest of your little nitpick rant was more nerdy than geeky. You fucking nerd.

Can't remember a note of the theme song. But I still remember that no gnus is good gnus.

Like Ericubus, I haven't actually heard the song since I was a kid but can still sing the whole damn thing.

Once I clicked on the link, it was very familiar. Couldn't have given you a word of it from memory, though.

BTW, Stephen King may be writing an episode for season two. Any King/Darabont joint is to be anticipated.

King didn't directly collaborate with Darabont on Shawshank, Green Mile or The Mist, no?

Has there been a solo-penned King screenplay/teleplay since The Stand that didn't suck balls?

Does this get any better? I am 3 episodes into it and find myself thoroughly bored with it. I typically love the dystopian aspect of zombie movies but this series is just crap. The writing is cheap and either the actors can't deliver their lines properly or they are just poorly written. There is absolutely no edge in this, nothing that interests me. I find myself laughing at times where I should not be. It's just cliche on top of cliche.

It's pretty monotone if you ask me. I'm hoping for a better second season... but not really counting on it.

No. If you didn't care for the first episode, it does not. You might find the cliffhanger of five and the entirety of six (the finale) interesting, but I think you'll find that the twist is cliche-ridden, too.

This is what I think.

And I DON'T think that because it veers away from the comic. That stuff almost never bothers me. If it did, I wouldn't think Lord of the Rings was awesome.

Right, I'm a fan of getting the general core of a story across. I don't really care if Glen shaves his head or not.

The first episode is still on my Tivo, unwatched. I have the Blu-ray of season one sitting on my shelf. Don't really feel much incentive to watch it. Even the people who like the show only seem marginally enthusiastic about it.

I was sick and spent the weekend on the couch, so I watched it in one go. I liked it more than I expected given my opinion of the comics but there is vast room for improvement. After the first episode the series pretty much spins its wheels until the last episode. The characters spend their time going from the camp into the city and back again, never really accomplishing much plot wise or dramatically. Although the groundwork for all kinds of melodrama is laid, none of it is explored at all. I didn't hate it, was occasionally pretty entertained by it, but after it was over I felt really unsatisfied by it. It seems like a series with an identity crisis; maybe it will settle into a groove in the second season. Not that I'm going to make a concerted effort to find out, either way.

AMC seemed like the perfect fit.

Michionne and her sword needs to show up fast and they need to copy Kill Bill's style. That is all.

I haven't watched the second episode, but I really hope it gets better than the first season. I'm pretty much in agreement with the rest of the gang here. There were things I liked, but mostly, I just want to see smart engaging characters. These are not the smart, engaging characters that the book series has.
