Very close to my own. I do All Hail West Texas, Tallahassee, The Sunset Tree, and The Coroner's Gambit, and occasionally skim random EPs.

It still feels good to do a sing along of either No Children or Best ever death metal band, and you're guaranteed one of those in the encore.

Paul Simon last week in St. Paul.

Worst audience ever. Person behind us left their phone ringer on and answered it. People to my side doing social media with the screen brightness on full blast. During the final song, Sound of Silence, a couple behind me were talking at full volume. I asked them to be quiet, and they did, but c'mon. Silence is in the title. Jerks.

Saw the LSD tour earlier in the week. Sorry, JFelix, the title was for Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, and Dwight Yoakam. Steve went on first, then Lucinda. Both excellent. I've seen Yoakam before, so I stayed through 4 songs, and heard 2 more while I waited for my Uber. Wanted to be the crush leaving. My wife couldn't go, as she got held up at work, so a friend from work went with me.

Saw Art Garfunkel last night in Rochester, Mn ( why play Rochester MN instead of Minneapolis? He mentioned coming here for his psoriasis treatment at the Mayo clinic)

I was probably half the age of the average attendee. The audience was mostly respectful, and Garfunkel was accompanied by a two-piece band. Garfunkel's voice isn't what it was, but still a solid and intimate performance. The older people in the crowd seemed to enjoy the scripted poetry reading, but I could have done without.

At one point, Garfunkel remarked that Paul Simon was playing Madison Square Garden the same evening, to which someone in the audience screamed "fuck Paul Simon!"

Simon and Garfunkel fans are weird.

Why? at the Cedar Cultural Center. They played a 10-year anniversary show for their 2nd album, Alopecia. Why? has had a pretty uneven career - some great early EPs and albums, followed by some that I consider near unlistenable, so focusing on their strongest album is certainly welcome and they sounded great. A lot more polished than the first time I heard them play this material in 2008.

God, I'm getting old.

Saw John Hiatt acoustic at a small theater in Beverly, MA on Friday evening. Excellent show, and my brother and his wife bought the VIP tickets, which included a Hiatt tote bag and signed poster. Since they didn't need 2 signed posters or tote bags, I got one. They also each got a copy of his new Cd, but I already had it.

Here's the Why? concert, because I'm the kind of dork that will rest my phone on my leg and record the whole show.

Also: picked up tickets to two nights of the Sun Ra Arkestra. They're playin' a movie theater and the art musem.

The sound of joy is enlightenment. I can't find US tour dates for this year beyond New York, I bet that would be a good show.

Sun Ra has been dead for 25 years! The Arkestra shouldn't be a thing anymore!

Marshall Allen's still leading them, and that dude is 94 goddamn years old. Better lock down tickets 'cause who know if he'll even be alive come January.

Show notes says there's gonna be 15 people onstage, dancers, costumes, lights shows and projections. It's gonna be buck wild.

Night One is at the Portland art museum which I've never actually been to proper (I've seen a few films there), night two they booked my favorite movie theater in town, the Hollywood.

Out of sheer fucking curiosity since I've never seen an Arena show, I've just picked up a ticket to see Twenty One Pilots. Will report back this week.

Also: my friends and I are guaranteed to be the oldest people at this show who aren't parents. Also the highest.
