I have a hard time believing I am the only one here obsessed with this album.
I first heard "Royals" about a month ago, checked out other stuff by her and found Tennis Court, which I liked even more:
With those two listens, I grabbed the record and was immediately floored by it. It's genuinely one of the best new albums I've heard all year.
Honestly.
Everyone is making a big deal of the fact that she's 16, but screw that. Doesn't matter. This album would be amazing if she was 16 or 60. Front to back, no filler, a perfect pop album with great minimalistic music, wonderful melodies, great lyrics, and all around awesomeness. I highly recommend it. "Royals" is everywhere right now, but I'm telling you, the WHOLE RECORD is fantastic. Believe the hype.
Hell, "Royals" is probably only the 4th or 5th best song on the album. Tennis Court is moody and stupidly infectious, 400 Lux has a dreamy and wistful beauty, Ribs is strangely uplifting despite the lyrics, Glory and Gore just pulses with energy (maybe my fave on the record right now? Though I do love 400 Lux and Ribs), the chorus of Team is wonderful, and on and on.
Is anyone else listening to this?

First I've heard of her (yes, I'm and old fart, and don't follow pop music as much as I used to).
So, given that I'm not even aware of any hype, I'm going to be objective.
Do not like. She sounds like Adele (sp?), and the production is just M83 synth pads with Timbaland drum loops (repetitively so). Would have sounded fresher 6 or 7 years ago. Team is the best song in that list (in that it has an actual melody).
Sorry...

I've seen that said once or twice before, and I don't get it. She doesn't sound anything like Adele! Totally different music, style approach, tone of voice. I must be missing something.
(I like Adele.)

"Adele Radio" on Pandora is one of the few musical compromises I've found with my students. Lorde has shown up on that station, and that's the only experience I have. Thought the song I heard was okay.

But she does sound like Regina Spektor (that was my impression anyways!)
