I have never read this.

I am right now listening to it.

It isn't as good as I thought it would be.

All the human characters are one dimensional, and very often act as complete morons.

The guesses on future technology and civilization are not very logical.

The robot actions and behavior are kind of cool in a SciFi way, but not as well thought through as I had anticipated they would be.

So far, I am very disappointed.

As far as Asimov goes, I like Foundation, but I love The Last Question (very short story).

I've had the entire Foundation series on paperback sitting in a box somewhere for years now just daring me to read them.

I read it when I was 12 or so. I wasn't impressed enough to read it again.

Asimov's Robot stories are not adventure stories or stories featuring amazing new worlds, they're logic puzzles. In almost all of them he just sets up a situation that allows a robot to break his Three Laws of Robotics, then they play out like mini mysteries to determine the logic behind how the laws were broken. Their sole purpose to is to explore the possible nature of artificial intelligence.

Approach them with that in mind and they're pretty good.

I didn't care for the Foundation books.

The best Asimov is The Gods Themselves.

Yes, I see them as just that, but it does not excuse the bad story telling around the central theme.

As logic puzzles they are enjoyable, but even the logic the people around them use is simplistic and not well thought out.

'Reason' would be much more entertaining if one of the scientists/admins wasn't a complete douche bag egocentric moron. As a scientist, which they kind of were, they would/should tend to be more inquisitive. This was brand new to them, and they simply didn't seem interested it.
