Haven't read a Koontz novel since the mid-late 90's.

I'll read the third, but perhaps not immediately. Not entirely getting the love people have for this series. It's reasonably enjoyable, but the characters are thin and the "twist" that a character wasn't who the character appeared to be was my first guess when the character was introduced.

It was an interesting read in that it was an examination of what he sees as an attempt to remove Jesus from popular Christianity and an overall doctrine of religious relativism. That he defines as the popular statement that Muslims, Christians and all other religions are praying to the same God just going about it in different ways. He maintains that this is not only a falsehood but an insult to each religion if you bother to read the texts. His position is the Bible is the inspired word of God and without error or falsehood. Reverend Baucham is a very intelligent man and brilliant orator, if you get the chances to see some of his sermons on youtube they are very powerful. This book isn't attacking or aggressive which a lot of people would expect from those positions but thoughtful and calm. It's not a long book and worth a read if you get the chance.

One of the best books I've read in ages. So far, when it comes to Joe Hill, I've read Horns (one of my all-time favorite books now), 20th Century Ghosts and now this. He's not as prolific as his father, but the quality of his storytelling is right on par with the old man.

I loved that book one of the best ghost stories ever.

Finally finished this. I enjoyed it, though the stream of consciousness, leaping around willy nilly in time got a bit confusing at times.

How was this, JC? I used to love McCammon books when I was younger but he lost me somewhere along the way. I read The Wolf's Hour, They Thirst, Stinger and Blue World but never got to this one.

Really loved this. John Doe is more the curator who contributes the most chapters but unlike an oral history, this is comprised of chapters from various players in the L.A. Punk scene. Even T.S.O.L's Jack Grisham gets a chapter and it's awesome. (For those that don't know, most of the people who were around for the L.A. punk scene think Grisham and the O.C. punk crowd ruined the L.A. scene because they made it more violent.)

Also reread:

My son and I have been reading this series over the last week or so. Mostly he is reading them during the day and I read a chapter or two a night to him.

Young Bond Series

Currently about half way through Double or Die.

I've read Wolf's Hour and They Thirst and enjoyed both. This one was good but not as good as those two, in fact in the afterword he points out this was one of his first books but couldn't get it published until later.

I really enjoyed this. I picked it up after hearing it was being turned into a series. Not sure what channel but it will work on almost any network. If you haven't read it or heard about it, it's not a novel in the traditional sense. Martin came up with the world and the overall situation, then reached out to other writers to contribute stories. There are 20+ volumes at this point. Can't speak to them all but the first one is great.

This is one of my all time favorite horror stories and I only read for the first time about four years ago. How did you like it?

Another Sarah Vowell book, this one of unrelated short stories. Also hilarious.

I loved it and I'm planning on reading The Willows soon. After reading he was one of Lovecraft's favorites along with Lord Dunsany I made it a point to read some of both as I get the chance.

Not his best work but I'm also beginning to suspect his books should come with warning to not read more than one a year.

The Willows is also great and a very quick read, but The Wendigo is one of those stories that really stuck with me after I read it. It's a perfect example of a supernatural story that really can't be done effectively on film. There's so much there that relies on the reader's imagination to fill in the blanks which is always more horrible than anything an FX company can put together. Very glad you liked it!
