Hey jfelix/pender!

How is Mass Effect Andromeda? If i were to buy this, I'd also be starting with the wrong one (I have the 1st and 2nd, just never got around to them)

I am enjoying the heck out of it.

It actually is far less serious than the one I started with ME3.

There are some funny dialogue and interactions.

I have been playing my character completely using only the Emotional or Casual dialogue options (with Emotional being primary if all 4 options are given).

I also have been flirting with everyone.

It has made for some funny stuff, so far.

I recommend it.

I'm too poor to buy a copy, but I've played about 20 hours via Redbox and don't think I can give a proper assessment of it, but I wasn't digging what I was playing, but it felt like it could get better. I'd keep playing it, and I'll definitely buy it once it hits the $40 pricepoint, but for now, the only game I have my mind set out is Persona 5, which comes out next Tuesday.

Legit most anticipated game of 2017.

Andromeda is a completely different storyline so you can probably play it without playing the original games. You should play them 'cause they're good (or at the very least 2. 2's perfect), but on the other had you might enjoy Andromeda more if you don't play them because you won't see what a huge dip in quality it is.

Yep, Andromeda is like watching Star Trek: The Next Generation. You don't need to have seen the original series. It's its own thing set in the same world.

Actually, the only negative I have to say is that I have had to backtrack over something I have already done multiple times because the game does not allow on-the-fly manual saves and I usually play before work and for about an hour after getting home.

Often, that limited play time has left me at a place that was deep in a primary story objective that prevents manual saves.

Very frustrating.

So much so that I left my PS4 on today when I left home for work.

As far as people bemoaning "drops in quality" with ME:A and with Fallout 4 and nearly every other title that I have picked up that isn't the first one.... meh.

No game is going to equate to a Kubrick-level storyline, artistry, or whatever.

I enjoy playing this Mass Effect and I played ME3 and I don't see any major drop in "quality" - it is essentially a fancy version of the old video game Dragon's Lair but the NPC reactions are a little funny if you play just to mess with them.

People expect way too much from games these days and all their judgements are clouded by past titles that were just as whonky and prone to errors.

They should all wear red hates that say MAKE VIDEO GAMES GREAT AGAIN.

Why aren't you putting your PS4 in Suspend Mode instead of turning it off entirely? It allows you to pick up where you were in seconds and is probably the one good thing to come out of this generation's consoles.

Because off uses less power and saves money for the poor, like me.

That's fare.

I guess since I have the originals (minus 3) i should give them a shot. I'm getting antsy with gaming because my PC has been dead since November and I just got it up and going again. I will wait for ME Andromeda to hit $20 before giving it a shot (currently $43 in places)

Pender, I appreciate the feedback. Flirting with everyone I could in Fallout 4 added a lot of fun.

I picked up Tomb Raider (2013) and enjoying it so far. I played through Rise of the Tomb Raider late last year and enjoyed it - good platforming games and a fine reboot of the series.

I am too chicken right now to load up Resident Evil 7.

Didn't think I'd like it at first, because it seemed to be all about jump scares -- I hate jump scares -- but it turned out to be really good. Moody, atmospheric, often quite chilling. Not quite on the level of Amnesia: The Dark Descent, but in the same ballpark. Good stuff, and mercifully short (about 5-6 hours).

I enjoyed it, too. Great atmosphere, great visuals, very moody. I really liked the whole flashlight mechanic, too.

It's one of the most original games I've played, when it came out I never gave it a look but it was a free download when I bought my XBOX One.

It's not a long campaign and I'm still messing around with some of the online multiplayer stuff.

Mostly been playing the Warmachine Mk 3 starter set with the wife but might start wading back into video games with Injustice 2.

So I started playing this over the weekend and really like it.

I started playing this last night and the visuals are gorgeous. I also got to crash Zypn so that was fun.

I won four Gears of War games not too long ago. I've been on a video game hiatus, though, and haven't gotten around to playing them.

I did play the first when it first came out, though (or maybe it was 2?). I liked it well enough, though it's not my preferred genre.

For the last two weeks I was in Japan and I spent a couple of hours playing at Club Sega in Akihabara. Aside from that link there are a few YouTube videos people have posted about the place but most of them give me motion sickness because people can't hold their cameras still.

Anyway, a ton of fighting games and racing games all connected so you're competing against the other players. The racing games were a ton of fun. The other fun one that I hadn't seen in an arcade here was like Dance Dance Revolution only it's Taiko Drums.

Pretty sweet. Cary, did you get to this Kowloon City-themed arcade in Japan?

Because holy crap I need to go there.

No, I didn't even know about that place. We stayed and played along the Yamanote Line circle that hits the interior of Tokyo. Yokohama was a little further out and since we only had 4 days there we didn't get much further outside of the places along the Yamanote Line.

I thought of you guys though because while wandering the fourth floor of Mandarake (a giant toy and collectibles store with multiple locations) I stumbled on the old game systems area. They had some Sega DreamCast and other old consoles for sale along with tons of games.
