Fallout 1,2, and Tactics are on sale for 4.99 on Steam. I missed these back in the day. Hopefully I don't hate them.

If you like old school top down RPGs, the Fallout games are rad. Very difficult, very challenging, but way ahead of their time in terms of freedom, flexibility, and so on.

Every title, eventually, will be discounted 75%. That's the nature of Steam. And why it's so insanely popular.

I've purchased games that I could have pirated just as easily, just because why not? Hell, I've purchased games I've already pirated, just because why not?

For many reasons I continue to have misgivings about "owning" things digitally and still do not buy new, full retail games that way, but when you're talking about the amount you'd spend on a pint of beer or a couple of cheap cheeseburgers, it's not much of an issue.

Now...have I played them all? Hell, no.

Autumn sale has started...and Amazon is price-matching some of these (if not beating them).

On another not, is the Max Payne series any good? Never played them, and Amazon has the trilogy for $6.99 today.

Max Payne is a story-heavy third person shooter series. Really slick production values, great story, excellent gameplay, but I don't recall this being your kind of game.

This is a huge turn-off for me. Never understood why this exists (for racing as well; who wants to see from behind the car?). Just Cause 2 is the one-and-only game where I don't mind it (but even in that game, trying to drive or fly is unbearable).

Max Payne is an awesome game, started the whole 'bullet-time' thing, and is very story driven and melodramatic. Very gritty film noir type feel to it.

Max Payne is one of the most consistently good game series out there. The game-play is extremely fluid. And the noir styling is nicely done with just a touch of parody to it. All three games are top notch with 3 going just a little over the top with ridiculously overlong cut-scenes and some extremely annoying stylistic visual flourishes during those overlong cut-scenes -- still the game-play and story are just as well-done as the first 2.

I'd give the nod to 2 as the series best but you can't go wrong with any of them.

So many games that I'll buy, so many games that I won't play. I probably shouldn't buy at these sales considering I've barely touched what I got from the summer sale, and some of those titles are even cheaper this time around.

I'm being super picky, if only because there's another big sale in less than a month.

But...Lego Lord Of The Rings is tempting... :)

It's a shit console port - if you look at the forum for this game, many people are whining that it won't load at all. That sort of headache is not worth $12 and change.

Oh without question, the problems with Deadly Premonition seem infinite.

But it's a small price to pay.

Do it.

A very cool dude on Reddit has made a spreadsheet, to calculate the cost of a game/hour - taking into account the median amount of hours everyone on Steam has played the game. It's a nice perspective on weighing the true cost of games (especially if you're trying to justify spending more than $10 on a specific title). Scroll down a bit for an example:

http://www.reddit.com/user/lakinwecker/comments/

Hopefully, someone makes a fully-blown website out of this.

I keep holding off holding out hope that it will go on a Flash sale.

I've purchased so much.

I've played so little.

I showed two people that clip last week and they were ready to throttle me by the end of it.

So fucking good.

I use this:

http://www.howlongtobeat.com/

Gives you a good idea of how long a playthrough on any given game is. It won't necessarily tell you how often you'll replay it and that sort of thing -- replayability is a HUGE factor, of course -- but for me it's a good gauge if I'm going to get enough content for my money.

Amazon's latest sale is trying to beat Steam by a few hours. If you buy any of the games in this list, you'll get a $5 credit in January, which can only be applied to an upcoming "best of 2013 games" list (you get a $5 credit for every single game you purchase, so if you buy 5 games today, you get 5 x $5 credits - BUT, you can only use one $5 credit/game purchase). Note that not every game in this list works on Steam:

Left 4 Dead 2 is currently free on Steam. Probably a Xmas day-only deal.

It's a 7.5GB download, which might explain the hammering. That's a lot of datas.

Told Shoe Jr. about it so he could get it for his account, too. He quickly texted a bunch of friends and they've been playing it ever since.

Because of JF's constant pushing, I broke down and got Deadly Premonition, which was added to the latest Indie Gala bundle today. Less than $6.

Also, this new HL2 mod is apparently good enough to warrant it's own store page on Steam, and it's free!

Nice. $6 is the magic price point, along with two of the other games I wanted to check out but not pay full price for.

Gimme a shout if you want the key(s).

Turn-based tactical RPG is right up my alley. If no one has claimed Tales, I'd be happy to grab it from ya'.

More keys!

Sid Meier's Civilization III: Complete

Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol

Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol: Pacific Skies

Caveat: You'll probably need a Humble account (which is free), and have that linked to your Steam account (so, I won't be sending you a Steam key, but a link to humblebundle).

Damn you, Shoe...now I need to figure out a way to never sleep, so I can actually play these games...

Why in the bloody hell wouldn't you keep this? It's freakin' A+ gold! Civ III was amazing in its own right, and this adds in the awesome Play the World, and Conquests expansions. I like it more than Civ IV.

Anyone, just checked out this bundle. BUYING IT. Sid Meier's games have given me loads of joy over the years. Happy to get them again for cheap.
