Anyone using the PlayStation Move Controller?

What is it for? How does it work?

They come out September 19th, and are like the Wii controller and nunchuck, motion control thingies. I'm not planning on getting them, but if a game comes out that is awesome enough and needs them, I might.

Would they be cool for things where you use a sword?

I enjoy the phallic look of them. Almost as good as gaming in the nude.

There is also talk that the ball at the end will be used as a video capture controller, so you might be able to just paint your tip with white out, or snap a large ping pong ball over it, and actually use your sword as a sword. It could certainly help you with your control.

The Move looks pretty cool, actually. Better than Microsoft's Natal system IMO.

Motion control is likely to be shit no matter who implements it, but I'm far more interested in Natal/Kinect than Move.

I don't know, I think Sony got it fairly right by implementing what appears to be related technology used in Hollywood for motion sensing. It would be nice if they had actually implemented a full-body suit, or attachments for tracking your feet.

I think the Kinect looks like it will be too easy to lose movement - all the demos and online videos indicate it is far less accurate than the Sony counterpart.

Interesting that the Sony Move system has been in development since BEFORE the release of the Wii.

Wonder if someone stole the idea over to Nintendo?

The problem with Kinekt is that it incorporates voice control. There's nothing like being in the middle of a game and someone else walking into the room yelling "Xbox Pause!"

You were right, I was wrong. :shame:

I ordered it before I posted that, and the order shows $38.54, I have no excuse for my imperfection, save the fact that I'm only partially American Indian.

Placed it on my birthday wish list.

Personally, I think the bigger problem is the fact that it lacks a controller (even though the lack of controller is the reason it's unique.)

The PS3 chat notification system is flawed. I see your invites, but by the time I see them, you're no longer online.

The PS3 chat notification system is flawed. I see your invites, but by the time I see them, you're no longer online.

So, I was on LBP the other night and I was playing in an online area - no one else was there when I joined and I was cruising through the scenario and having fun when in popped someone else.

They were running along side me and seemed OK.

I heard them curse over my headset and knew they had a mic.

So, I switched my mic on and said "oh, lookout for that one."

There was a pause and then, "you have a mic?"

"Yes. How goes it?"

"Wait for a second, please."

And then the guy logged off.

Another time, I was helping the wife around the Mod Spot in ModNation Racers and I happened to have my headset and mic on. She was just puttering around the place and I was explaining each spot to her, when some guy drove up and screamed loudly - "SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!"

I ignored him and kept talking as if I did not hear him.

That has been my two experiences of speaking to anyone on the PlayStation 3.

I hope the new SOCOM game has voice control like it did before. Otherwise the only reason for getting the new headset will be to have better VoIP on my work webinar broadcasts.

The only two games that interest me for Kinect are Dance Central and Your Shape: Fitness Evolved. Neither of which are first party games, and both are said to work flawlessly. Kinectimals and Joy Ride is stuff that wouldn't appeal to me even if the critics raved about them.

Just realized that I have not friended a couple of you here for PSN. Look for an invite if we're not friends already. If you decline (some people like to keep their friends list pretty lean) send me a quick message saying you decline so I'm not sending out requests repeatedly to those who have refused as I do check here periodically to see who I've missed.
