Good riddance. The guy's an idiot and Zynga is an idiotic company. Match made in heaven!

It seems more likely that this is a strategic move by Microsoft. In 2010, Nokia made the head of MS's business division its CEO, and then promptly adopted Windows as its one and only phone OS. I suspect you'll see some tight integration between Zynga games, and the Xbox brand very soon.

Kinda cool. Any positive Xbox One/Microsoft article is worth posting. Also Chris, I know you love the gran turismo series a lot. Have you ever played a Forza game before? I've read the Forza series has made a lot of progress and can be considered up there with GT series. I've never played either (like an hour of GT at a friends house on PS2). I was just curious though. Also, you are the first person I've seen to bring up this being a strategic move. Probably right too, I know I'd play Farmville on consoles, at least a little before I get bored and quit lol

Post subject:  Re: Xbox One

Forza is the closest I've ever been to wanting an Xbox. I like it, but not as much as GT(although, I'm sure it has better menus; GT is legendary for its awful menu designs). Had GT5 sucked, I would have bought an Xbox just for Forza. Since it didn't, I didn't.

So Microsoft is now opening the XBox One to full self-publishing by indies:

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/arch ... ocess.aspx

But the BIG takeaway here is that retail consoles can serve as debug machines, which is not only even friendlier than last generation, it's friendlier to indies than the PS4.

The certification process is being made much smoother, too, and will allegedly have a 14-day turnaround.

Still no sale until they get rid of the Kinect requirement.

The news is utterly fantastic, but who knows how developers will react - People like that Fez dude, or the guys behind Oddworld have straight-up said they will never work with Microsoft again, basically. No matter how glorious the backtracking has become, the sour taste is still left in a lot of mouths.

Wait a year, they'll rip out the Kinect and knock the price down $100. And when that happens, I'll probably end up with both consoles again.

There's a system without the required Kinect that's just for you, the xbox 360.

I don't think the Kinect is going away, they built their whole system around this and while they have changed a bunch of things to please people, this isn't one of them and from all the things they have said, it seems very impressive and I can't wait to try it out. I bought the awful Wii for party games when people came over, the Kinect could be great for parties and even the way they are implementing it in certain games is very cool.

Will they announce a bundle for $100 cheaper? Hopefully we find out soon.

I might be buying one of these this weekend.

Not for me, for Shoe Jr. I'm still on the fence as to whether I want this or the PS4.

Right now, though, the Master Chief Collection bundle is $350, a cool $50 cheaper than a PS4. Good price, and we're both big Halo fans. Figure I can get some use out of the console until he goes away to college, too.

Post subject:  Re: Xbox One

Apparently the Master Chief Collection is still broken after months of being out? You might want to check in on that before you buy that bundle.

Just the multiplayer, as far as I'm aware. The matchmaking is borked. Pretty sure the game itself (single-player) is fine.

Like in order for the next generation of consoles to get my attention in terms of being an all-in-one media center is Sony or Microsoft would have to say "Yo, we support the .MKV codec on video playback," drop the microphone and I'd be sold, basically.

Funny enough, Microsoft did exactly this.

And the PS4 still can't stream media from an external hard drive like the PS3 can.

Again, I don't participate in console warriorism, but Shoe, you really should have gotten a PS4 strictly so you could be on the toilet shitting while streaming Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare to your PS Vita.

It really is the future.

This console is for my son, not for me. It will be leaving the house with him in a year's time. Like I said, still on the fence about which I want for myself.

Then you could have been playing his PS4 from miles away while you take a shit via Vita streaming.

Post subject:  Re: Xbox One

The Xbox One is nice and quiet and looks good, and we got the Master Chief bundle, but the pack-in game wasn't packed in, it was a digital download. An 80GB download.

BULLLLLLSHIIITTT!!!!!!

If you're selling a bundle, pack the fucking game in!

Of course, it has a mandatory install of 60GB anyway. So does Dragon Age.

THE PACKED IN 500GB hard drive fucking sucks!!

At least time around it can use external drives for any kind of storage.

Post subject:  Re: Xbox One

I think all the Xbox One and PS4 bundles use the digital download. I was looking into The Last of Us PS4 bundle and it's a digital download and you're right, they fucking suck. It would take me an entire day and then some to download that 80GB Halo bundle.

Fun fact: The mandatory installation for all disc-based games consists of the entire game with the disc basically working as a verification system more than anything.

It's the future!

Does the XBox One at least have decent Wifi, because the first generations of PS4s have hideous wifi.

Basically buying a Next Gen console was a mistake and everyone should be ashamed of themselves.

Like, I guarantee you that Bethesda's first ever E3 conference will be dedicated solely to announcing remastered editions of Fallout 3/New Vegas and/or Skyrim that are "aiming for 60FPS" and then everyone in the audience shoots themselves in the face.

EDIT: And I would buy the shit out of a Fallout 3/New Vegas remaster considering they're both still 100% unplayable on my PS3.

Post subject:  Re: Xbox One

Fallout 3 was an unplayable slide show in the opening vault on my PS3, but was fine after that. Played the while game and all the DLC with only a few freezes.

I bought that game three damn times for three different platforms, and if they did a remastered Skyrim I'd probably consider it. I am ridiculous.

New Vegas crashes every two or three hours I play it, and I play that fucker for 8-hour stretches when I'm in the mood. Bethesda games fucking everything up is 100% the only regret I have when I switched from 360 to PS3.

I actually just re-bought Skyrim for the third time yesterday because I needed something to scratch that itch knowing I wouldn't be able to touch New Vegas without it just making me sad.

I seriously only own... Six PS4 games on disc and a decent sized chunk of downloadable Indie games, and my 500gig hard drive on my PS4 is already full.

I do know that you can swap out PS3/4 hard drives with terabyte+ laptop hard drives, you might want to see if XBox One has the same option.

Well, I'm not going to get too deep into it. It's Shoe Jr.'s problem for now, not mine. I'm actually trying to resist the urge to buy GTA V again. I already bought Dragon Age for myself. Anything more and he's going to think I bought the console for myself.

I was excited to play this again with Zypn the other day.

We had already done one heist together and it was amazingly fun, though not as interactive in the planning as I had hoped.

I had been hoping for some serious HEAT-level planning shit.

Options or creativity avenues instead of just straightforward THIS IS WHAT YOU DO. GOT IT? GOOD, NOW GO DO IT.

Any who.

I then played a few hours to build my online character - Zypn's guy had woefully outleveled my slut with big tits and a penchant for killing motorcyclists, so I needed XP. Pronto.

A few days later, Zypn and I met up again and immediately went into heist mode.

The thing is, the UI and load times are fucking so slow I can feel the dirt of my grave hitting me in the face every time I play this fucking game.

We could not get the online friends thing to work well and we spent nearly an hour trying to hook up.

It had taken nearly 20 minutes the previous time.

And another 20 minutes the time before that (pre-heist version).

And so on.

As much as I love jumping in cars and hunting down people and whatnot, this game has one of the worst fucking interfaces on the planet. I mean, we're talking the AOL of games here.

I put the disc in my naughty drawer and I'm not sure if it will ever merit being pulled out again.

Highly disappointed since I loved the gameplay a ton.

:(

Ugh. That sounds disappointing as hell. I don't do much online gaming anymore, but I'd for sure jump in on some sessions with you guys if they shit WORKED.

I think the last Hole gaming I did was some GTA IV with Noto ... but I might actually be thinking of someone else.

Post subject:  Re: Xbox One

Just booting the game takes upwards of 5 minutes.

No lie.

Plus the default is the Story Mode and if you miss changing that, it takes another 5-10 minutes to get it shifted back to online.

Finally, you get an ear full of douches and the only way to mute them is one-by-one as they randomly pop up.

Zypn and I spent hours trying to play NBA2k14 together and it would never work. So disappointed with online gaming for the new consoles. I don't even try anymore.
