I think this is a me and JFelix thread, but maybe other people have one. If so, yay!

I finally set aside some time to explore what else this thing can do last night. Damn, not bad! All sorts of good shit and a few okay free apps I haven't played with yet. I put porn on it and it looked great, so it's already a winner.

Also browsed the PSOne classics and PSP library, and ...

Fuck.

Too. Much. Stuff.

The prices are a little shitty compared to bargain PC stuff -- $10 on average, FUCK that when Steam and GoG games are like $4 on average -- but there was a TON of stuff I'd want to play.

And do the PSOne classic games really work on PS3, too, for real? Because if so, holy fuck, I'm done for the next year (as if I wasn't already thanks to the ridiculous PS+ backlog)!

I didn't intend to get a memory card for this thing, but I think I may have to now.

PSOne classics work on PS3, even the discs.

The prices balance out when you get into PS+ discounts. Like, right now Spelunky has been discounted from $14.99 down to $3.75. The moral of this story: buy Spelunky.

You will absolutely, unquestionably, have to get a memory card. I juggle between 4 different 4 gig cards (they seem to go on clearance FREQUENTLY) and wish I bit the bullet and got a grossly overpriced 16/32 gig card. The price for cards is the biggest, grossest drawback of the system.

One of my favorite things about the game TEARAWAY is that it has its own built-in Instagram filter-y thingie for taking in-game photos. Here are some of mine:

Whoa, you sure?

'Cause I still have all my PSOne discs. If they work, that's INSANE. I have so many damn PSX games, 100+, and if I can play them ... yes![/quote]

FUCK! I Bing-imaged the phrased "picture of my dick" figuring I'd get some joke images, but I'm DUMB, so I DIDN'T.

Anyway, Vita4Lyfe!

100% I have my discs lying around, and the system plays them.

It's the PS2 discs that aren't backwards compatible unless you have one of the original first-run systems.

TIPZ:

You can take screenshots by hitting the home and start button simultaneously.

Press and hold on a menu screen in order to re-arrange your bubbles and change the backgrounds.

In fact, do a Google search for Vita Start Screens for goodies. Or to a GIS for stuff in 960x544

Go into System/Power Save Settings and uncheck Use Wi-Fi in Power Save Mode. It'll stop the system from being in a constant state of Wi-Fi hotspot searching, saving battery life.

Probably the most obvious if you have a smartphone or whatever - get a case, get screen protectors.

Near: I have no idea what Near does. Nobody knows what Near does.

Holy shit!

When we finally get together, eventually, I hope you don't mind if I give you a handy for this info.

Wow!

16 gig memory cards are $20 on Amazon, but not in stock.

But the 8 gig cards are $10 and in-stock. Grab it!

Done and done. Also got some grips, 'cause why not?

I discovered "minis" yesterday. A whole ton of small games for a few bucks each. Yay!

I hear grips are essential because after awhile you get hand cramps playing.

I guess I have teeny tiny little girl hands because I never had a problem.

My hands fall asleep or get sharp pains when I play for more than an hour (which I have done multiple times playing Walking Dead in bed).

Got two 8GB cards. While I'd like a big 64GB card, the prices are INSANE. Figure these cards should do me fine.

Heads up: Tearaway's $20 at Gamestop this week.

Even with a huge goddamn backlog, this is a goddamn steal.

Killzone: Mercenary has been PS+ discounted from $40 to $9.

That is fucking bananas crazy.

I was pretty much ready to go cart-only due to the pricing on the memory cards, but holy shit, $9 for genuine FPS goodness on a handheld.

Swipe up on the touchscreen to stab motherfuckers in the crotch, yo.

EDIT: It's also almost 5 gigs in total, so holy fuck.

5GB.

Screw that noise!

I've mostly been playing Uncharted on it. That, and watching softcore pron on Dailymotion.

The only big problem with the game is it feels especially cramped when you're in close quarters firefight situations.

Oh and the fact that it's Killzone and I've never played any of the previous games because who gives a fuck, but my eyes are bugging out every second I play this. How the fuck did they do this?

You know, I can't bear to watch anything anime-related anymore, but I can't stop playing these fucking weirdo games.

I've had this on pre-order due to overwhelming hype (Sort of Battle Royale schoolkids-killin-schoolkids mixed with those Phoenix Wright games I never played - hot trial action! And there's apparently rhythm minigames). Comes out next week. I'm excited.

Details for the Vita port of Borderlands 2 are starting to come in, including a bundle (which has the new designed slim Vita model with a standard LCD screen instead of the OLED)

Image

Quote:
All-in-one Borderlands®2 Limited Edition PlayStation®Vita Bundle includes the new PS Vita Wi-Fi system, Borderlands®2 Full Game Digital Voucher, and 8GB Memory Card.

Six (6) Borderlands®2 DLC packs including, Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty, Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, the Psycho Character Class, Mechromancer Character Class, Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 1, and Collector’s Edition Pack.

Play with your friends with up to four (4) person cooperative multiplayer.

DESIGNED EXCLUSIVELY FOR PS VITA SYSTEM
Enjoy the full Borderlands®2 experience optimized for the PS Vita platform. Shoot your way through Pandora in four-player co-op and easily navigate the maps, inventory, and items using the touchscreen. Continue your adventures at home using the cross-save feature with the PS3™system.

The crossave feature that lets me import my characters is fucking awesome, but considering there was some slowdown in the game on the PS3 when things got crazy, I have absolutely no fucking idea how they're going to pull this off on the Vita.

But I'm totally gonna buy the fuck out of it and replay.

I haven't played a game on my Vita for weeks. It's mostly a little video box for me. I've been dropping Walking Dead episodes on it and watching in bed or while on my lunch break.

Also, eporner.com works well with it. Just sayin'.

I've resisted buying a Vita (and a 3DS, as well) but that just might be enough to convince me.

Felix, there is a free app for Vita called "Crackle." It's pretty much like a small Netflix, but free and with no membership required. The selection kind of sucks and is uber small -- only about 70 -100 movies total -- but hey, free flicks, right? There is some lousy horror on there and some Godzilla movies and oddly, Taxi Driver, plus other stuff like the bad '80s skin comedy Hardbodies.

Crackle is Sony's dumping ground for Columbia/Tri-Star content*, but it is also the only place to watch Seinfeld's brilliant Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.

*Watching Krull on your Vita is an other-wordly experience!

If I had the wherewithal, I'd play a grand practical joke on the world: releasing a deluxe, four-disc collector's set of Krull with a full workprint, over 12 hours of documentary features, a special edition with new effects, and more, all bolstered by a HUGE marketing campaign.

You've probably never seen the movie, but on the DVD of Free Enterprise, there's a deleted scene where the characters (all quasi-representations of me, even the black guy) take a roadtrip to the laserdisc store to purchase a ridiculously massive box set of Logan's Run (which really did exist, btw). Your post just reminded me of it (and now I want to watch Free Enterprise again).

I kid you not - if Sony had the balls to put out a $100 box set of Krull, I would be the first to own it, and show that shit off on Facebook.

It's a very 90s movie, and the acting is particularly amateur, but it's the best scifi/comic/film-geek film ever made.

One of the main characters is a writer/editor at a magazine - so, yeah, you should watch this.

I was going to grab that one, too, but felt too lazy to sign up.

A charitable soul and good friend hooked me up with their Netflix account, so I now have that working on the Vita. Used it last night to watch a movie. Playback is great, though the navigation is ass.
