Super looking forward to seeing everyone. That we managed to pull together a car pool makes it all the better. This is going to be a great weekend.

Seventh movie, first clue:
The title of this film can make you very, very sick.

You'd be in good company because I'm pretty awful as well. So far though, the neighbors haven't sent the cops yet when I stay at Kimfair's.

btw, do I need to bring anything - like, a chair?

If you have a folding chair you like, you can bring it if you wish. We have a lot of seating, plus the floor, but more is always nice. Since this is your first, let me give you a little bit of what to expect. I make a huge lasagna for dinner on Friday night. I provide bagels and cream cheese for breakfast on Saturday. I also provide coffee, and copious amounts of Coca Cola, Diet Coke, and coke Zero. There will be a formidable snack table from what the attendees bring. If you have a special snack/food that you want require please bring it, but remember that I do not have a microwave, so don't bring anything that requires one. Wear comfy clothes (you can change into that here), and you may want slippers (if there's still a ton of snow, I ask folks to leave their shoes outside, so no one is sitting on wet). There will be other announcements made here and on the Facebook page as we get closer (I know it's only 2 weeks away). Man I still have a shit ton of stuff to do.

In addition to kimfair's info.

Space is limited, so if you bring a chair, make it a compact one.

Most of the extra seating is hard wooden dining room chairs, that are not good for long periods, so I may be bringing a floor chair or folding chair myself this year.

Hard wooden dining room chairs are good for keeping awake.

Further proof that the movie portion is just a ruse for Kimfair to be able to torture his friends.

Depending on to whom you speak, the movies are we what we use to torture our friends!

CHRIST! Why did you have to bring that up? Easily my least favorite thing ever shown at Fest. My brain goes to the same place where Monty's did when he saw Twixt.

I wasn't actually there for that one, but I heard you guys talking about it, so I grabbed a copy and started watching, then blood started tricking out of my ears, and I never finished.

I have to agree with Cary, perhaps my least liked Fest film ever. The screaming, the screaming in French! Argghhh!

We're making a bigger deal out of it than it probably is, but I'll say this. I've never walked out on a Fest Film before. Even this one, I stuck it out to the bitter end. However, the only reason I didn't just hang out in the kitchen or on the porch instead of finishing it was because I figured that Tigerpal picked it and it must have some payoff.

I've never forgiven Tigerpal.

I haven't either, though I still have people give me shit for Knightriders, and that was 25 years ago. We all have our cross to bear.

I think a lot of it had to do with the length (142 min), the pace (slow), and the time it showed. That first year we did Fest Noon to Noon, and it was much more difficult that the 6pm-6pm format.

I was just telling my wife about that one. I remember sleeping through most of it. She was impressed/concerned that a pseudo-porn film put me to sleep.

All I remember about Spermula is that one of the girls kind of looked like a 70's Mariah Carey.

I have no money or vacation time (well, I have 6 hours right now) so I won't be making it. Maybe next year.

Edit - kind of fun that the flight for me to Boston from Minneapolis costs roughly the same that I spent flying to Barcelona.

Churros, man. I haven't eaten one in about 20 years, and I can still taste them. Not like that Mexican churro bullshit over here. I will probably go to Spain in the next few years, and the only thing I will do when I get there, is eat churros. I will have to buy an extra plane seat for my stomach for the trip home.

Are we to assume that it's a foreign movie that we'd expect to be in another language, then?

Over The Edge seems a bit too obvious here, but why not...

Eighth Movie Second Clue: The color scheme of this film is like a newspaper. Black and white and red all over.
