No? Just me then...

Some things got fried, no people though, and I need to replace my receiver which is kinda working, but no longer putting out a video signal.

Old one: Pioneer VSX 1120

I haven't been looking at receivers in a long time, so I am not up to date with what is good right now, so I'm looking for recommendations in the $500 range.

Need at least...
5 HDMI inputs
1 HDMI out
5.1 surround
Subwoofer through single cable out

Looking at maybe the Sony STR-DN 1080, or Pioneer VSX-LX103, but very open.

Also a new wireless router for secondary home network off the cable router. That blew too, along with 3 8-port gigabit switches.

And yes, they were all plugged into surge protectors, but lightning be strong.

Where did it hit? Did it do damage to the house, or did it just hit some metal and fry some electrical stuff? This must have been the other night when it was crazy storming, right?

Yes, Monday night. It hit the antenna on my roof, and blew out 2 spots of the eaves (roof overhangs, soffits) with a little damage to the top of the roof but not much. The signal amplifier that the antenna was connected to was partially blown out, power button and plastic over the lights. The antenna is in many many pieces all over, and the coax is blistered.

No fires, it was torrential downpours when it hit so that probably helped.

Power is still out in 3 bedrooms upstairs due to the individual breakers being broken, but most of the house is operational now.

Wow, that's pretty crazy. Glad everyone and the house are in good shape.

Yikes.

My Mom's house was ALMOST struck by lightning back in 2005 (it literally blew up a tree not 15 feet away), and it ended up frying my WebTV.

P.S. If anyone is in need of a new stove, Lowe's is having a good sale right now, and Home Depot will be next week.

Wow. I never had a house struck by lightning but in Florida we had trees on our property struck a few times. Glad you all are okay.

I lost HDMI input and output on my receiver because of a lightning storm, and one HDMI input on a projector.

After watching ebay for like a year, I found an HDMI daughterboard that I was able to replace in my receiver rather than replace the whole thing.

*Correction

My subwoofer is not working, receiver is fine, actually very good.

Hsu VT3-MK3, I fucking love that subwoofer. Time to replace it with a new Hsu.
