There's some really great stuff in this thread. I'd comment on individual pieces, but there is SO MUCH I find cool that it's hard to narrow it down. Lots and lots of excellent stuff for a den or movie room or whatever.

The vast majority of my posters and art are in storage, in theory waiting for the day (that will never come) when we finish our upstairs and I actually have my den/office/library.

I love the geisha and the Shepard Fairey print. That one has always been a favorite to see when I come for Fest.

It's funny. My only exposure to him was all the Andre the Giant Obey stickers that were all over Boston in the 80's and 90's. I wasn't familiar with any of his other work. We're charter members of Boston's Institute Of Contemporary Art, and they were having a Fairey exhibition, and were offering the print I have at a 50% reduction for members (I think it was $100 knocked down to $50). I figured it might be a good investment piece so we decided to grab one and check out the exhibit. I was completely blown away by how awesome it was, and quickly decided that the print would need to be framed and hang in my house. It's still a nice investment piece, but we get to enjoy it until I need to sell it in the future.

If you get a chance watch the HULU documentary about him. I think it is called OBEY.

Outside that point, I am fairly stoked to have sold one of my designs on a canvas print online. That was a first for me and I think it is far more intimate than the t-shirt sells I have made, so far.

Although Karen brought up the point that having someone wear your design is significantly intimate, as well.

I still think having someone you don't know committed to putting your art on their home's wall is tits.

I mean that is the art, bitches.

Years ago, I bought a piece of original artwork by Steve Keene, who has done loads of cover art for bands like Pavement, Apples in Stereo, and others. It was very similar to this, but no text:

Didn't even manage to get out of the concert with it. Somehow set it aside. Was really pissed at myself for that.

You know, that's legitimately tempting!

But I'm a bit wiser when it comes to posters / display pieces these days. I don't buy them anymore. There just isn't anyplace to display them, so why bother?

I've got some posters I really love that haven't seen the light of day in over a decade because of that. Adding more to the pile would be foolish.

Double sided posters are twice the fun.

Also: if you wanna get down with freaky dyke shit with bitchin' dual drummers/percussion, see Fever Ray live.

I'm actually on a rent check paycheck so I've been pinching pennies for merch at the David Byrne show on Sunday, but as soon as I saw that thing for sale at the Jeff Rosenstock concert last night, I knew which choice was the correct choice.
